Thompsons help car accident victims win Compensation

No Win No Fee specialist lawyers Thompsons helped two victims of a traffic accident win their compensation claims after advising them to reject ‘derisory’ offers made by the insurers of the driver responsible.

Derek Noble and Hazel Simpson (both members of the UNISON Trade Union) were driving along Old Largs Road, Greenock when a car approached at speed and the driver appeared to lose control.

Mr Noble tried to brake but the other car crashed into the side of their vehicle.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident and the couple were taken by ambulance to Inverclyde Royal hospital in Greenock.

Both were examined at A&E and later discharged the same day.  Both clients suffered sprains to their neck and back, with Mr Noble also sustaining bruising to his arms and legs and Mrs Simpson suffering from severe bruising to her chest.

In addition, both clients experienced travel anxiety following the car accident, particularly Mrs Simpson.

Mr Noble’s recovery period was around 4 months, with Mrs Simpson was fully recovered by around 9 months post accident.

Because the offers of settlement were so low Thompsons Compensation Claim specialists raised the case in Greenock Sheriff Court and the Defenders again tried to settle the case with slightly increased offers in both cases.

These were rejected and both cases subsequently went to proof where Mr Noble was awarded £2,700 and Mrs Simpson was awarded £3,800.

Mr Noble said: “I was really pleased with the final settlement figure. Thompsons were very professional and their advice to pursue the matter in court turned out to be the correct way to proceed.

Mrs Simpson said: “We might very well have accepted the offers of compensation after the car accident if Thompsons had not advised us that they could achieve a better settlement figure.

“The car crash was a very frightening experience and I really appreciate the way Thompsons dealt with our compensation claims.
