Laura Blane

Laura Blane is a Partner with Thompsons and supervises the Lung Disease Department, with a specialised interest in Asbestos-related disease. She joined Thompsons in 2002 as a Trainee Solicitor and has been involved in asbestos litigation since. She was the instructing solicitor in two recent asbestos cases taken to Appeal in the Court of Session which succeeded in raising the level of damages awarded to the families of victims of asbestos disease.
 
Laura is also a Solicitor–Advocate which enables her to prepare and present cases in the Court of Session.
 
She is also involved in Thompsons’ tireless campaigning for the rights of victims of personal injury and most recently has provided legal support to Bill Butler MSP in his successful Private Members Bill which will become the Damages (Scotland) Act 2011 and will greatly improve the levels of compensation available to victims in fatal cases as well as clarifying the legal process.
